Produced by Impel. The fronts of these cards have an image of a Marvel character, while the backs have a head-shot of the character, information and quotes, plus a Power Rating of the characters abilities. The base set is made up of the subsets Super Heroes, Team-Ups, Super-Villains, Rookies, Cosmic Beings, Origins, Teams, and Milestones. The backs of the cards in the Milestones subset reprint an image of a comic book cover. The artwork is uncredited, but some artists are recognizable by their style. One item of note: the checklist card credits Joe Jusko with the background paintings, which is apparently the background colors. If you put cards 1-10 next to each other in a straight line, and then put cards 11-20 in a straight line underneath, you can see that the backgrounds all go together to form a 200 card puzzle image of the Marvel Universe.
